The Dark Horse is the most focused version of the current Mustang. Ford took the 5.0-litre V8 to 500 hp, fitted stiffer springs, stronger brakes and a chassis set up with track use in mind, and the result reaches 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds while sounding like nothing else on the road. What sets it apart from the fast-saloon alternative is how deliberately old-fashioned the recipe is: a big naturally aspirated V8 up front driving the rear wheels, with the noise and the throttle response that come with it. The cabin is modern — twin curved displays, well-bolstered seats — but the character is unchanged. Available self-drive or chauffeur-driven from Cape Town, and a popular matric dance and milestone-birthday booking.
