Finished in deep gloss black, the Maserati GranCabrio is a true four-seat convertible grand tourer — long-bonneted, wide-hipped and unmistakably Modenese, with the marque's trident-crowned grille leading a body that looks fast standing still. Beneath it sits the 4.7 litre naturally aspirated V8, a Formula 1-derived pre-chamber engine producing 542 hp and channelling it through an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive for a 5.0-second sprint to 100 km/h. Drop the fabric roof in seconds and the exhaust note fills the cabin, sharpening from a cultured hum in GT mode to a hard-edged bark in Corsa. Inside, hand-stitched leather, twin digital displays and a driver-focused cockpit make long coastal routes feel like an event rather than a journey. It is the rare car that is equally convincing carving through mountain passes and gliding along the promenade at dusk.
