Luxury Car Rental in Cape Town for Spanish Visitors

Welcome Spanish Visitors to Veloce

Bienvenido a Veloce. We hire luxury cars to Spanish visitors arriving in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Cape Town shares more with Spain than most realise: a Mediterranean climate, a serious wine culture, a strong food tradition, an outdoor lifestyle, and a coastline that rewards driving. The Garden Route, the Cape Winelands, the Cape Peninsula — all the kinds of trips that work in Andalucía or Catalunya, here transplanted into a destination that's exotic but instantly familiar. We accept Spanish driving licences, the deposit process is straightforward for European visitors, and we walk you through the one genuine adjustment: South Africa drives on the left.

What You Need to Drive in South Africa as a Spanish Visitor

Your Spanish (España) driving licence is accepted at Veloce — we recommend bringing an International Driving Permit ("permiso internacional") as a backup, available from DGT for around €10. Not strictly required by us, but useful at roadside checks. Minimum age 23 for our standard fleet, 25+ for supercars, no upper age limit. Licence must have been held for at least 2 years. At pickup bring your physical Spanish licence, your passport, the credit card used for the deposit (in the lead driver's name), and flight or accommodation details. Additional drivers welcome — each presents documents in person. We verify identity via Smile ID and credit-check via Experian. Process is 10-15 minutes. Send documents via WhatsApp in advance to speed airport handover. Hablamos inglés con fluidez y entendemos español básico.

Left-Side Driving — What Spanish Visitors Need to Know

In South Africa, you drive on the LEFT — opposite to Spain. Steering on the right side, gearstick to your left, indicator on the right of the wheel (windscreen wipers on the left). Most renters adapt within 30 minutes — your hands and feet learn faster than your conscious mind. The first day feels unfamiliar at intersections and roundabouts (rotondas), which work the same way but from the opposite direction. By day two it stops feeling foreign. Practical tips: start in a residential area not the motorway; avoid driving jet-lagged; stay alert at T-junctions. If you'd rather not deal with the adjustment, our chauffeur service is available. Speed limits are 120 km/h on motorways (similar to Spain's 120), 100 km/h on national roads, 60 km/h in towns. Google Maps works throughout South Africa.

Most Popular Routes for Spanish Visitors

Spanish visitors often appreciate parallels to home — three patterns we see often. The Cape Winelands Tour (3-5 days): Cape Town, Constantia, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl — the wine culture, the Mediterranean food, the relaxed pace. Comparable to Rioja or Penedès but with Mediterranean architecture and African scenery. Best in an executive sedan or luxury SUV. The Garden Route (7-10 days): Cape Town to Hermanus, Mossel Bay, Knysna, Plettenberg, Tsitsikamma, Port Elizabeth — the classic SA road trip with Mediterranean climate throughout. We collect from Port Elizabeth. The Cape Peninsula Day (1-2 days): Cape Town, Camps Bay, Chapman's Peak Drive, Cape Point, Boulders Beach, Simon's Town — the single most photographed loop in SA, comparable to Costa del Sol coastal drives in atmosphere. Best in a convertible. Happy to suggest specific accommodation, restaurants, and itineraries.
